A finished fleece bale!

A finished fleece bale!

For the first time, we are participating in the Alpaca Coalition of America's National Fleece Collection Initiative. For this project, farms from all over the country send skirted blanket fleeces of different grades and colors to various collection sites. Collection sites are scattered throughout every region. Once collected, all the fleeces will be graded and sorted. This year at Little Creek Farm, Winnie Labrecque and an expert team will be sorting and grading. A summary report of each farm's submitted fleeces will be provided at no cost. When all fleeces have been evaluated, they will be baled and ready for US and International buyers who will negociate pricing, and purchase bulk fleece to fit their individual needs. In turn, each contributing farm will receive cash money for their fleeces depending on the final weight and grades of each color they submitted and the market price.

While we do process the majority of our fleeces into yarns and production of our own product line, we did select beautiful fleeces in every color to send to the coalition's efforts. We fully support the goals and mission of the Alpaca Coalition to show the world that American alpaca breeders can compete on a world-wide fiber market.
Feel free to contact us or Lynn Edens with questions regarding the National Fleece Collection.
